Chapter #20: The Judge
Written by: Barah
وَرَبُّكَ يَعْلَمُ مَا تُكِنُّ صُدُورُهُمْ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَ{69} وَهُوَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ لَهُ الْحَمْدُ فِي الْأُولَىٰ وَالْآخِرَةِ ۖ وَلَهُ الْحُكْمُ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ{70}
“Your Lord knows what their hearts conceal and what they reveal.{69} And He is God. There is no god but He. Praise is only for Him in the beginning and at the end, and He alone has the right to judge, and to Him you are to be returned.{70} ” [Mufti Taqi Usmni][28:69-70]
We’ve seen verses like this before, because it’s important for us to remember that everything isn’t what it seems. God himself only knows what’s truly hidden in our hearts, and knows exactly what we lay out there for everyone to see and what we don’t, what we hide. And another point that is made in these verses is that God is the only one who can judge us; in the end whatever we do we will be held accountable for. So even if people don’t like what you do or like it, in the end you must evaluate your actions based on what you deem is right or wrong and based on what you think God will appreciate or not. And so in the end, what you do and you choose is up to you because no one will take the blame or the reward for it but you, and God will be the judge of that.
