Quranic Reflection Series: Seeking Success

Surah an-Nisa, verse 134

“Whoever desires the reward of this world – then with Allah is the reward of this world and the Hereafter. And ever is Allah Hearing and Seeing.”

There are many ways that we define success; for some it will be the size of their paycheque, for others it will be the degrees they attain, or maybe even the cars and homes they possess.

No matter how much we may have “gained” in this life, if it is in the absence of knowing Allah, then ultimately; we haven’t gained very much.

Success in this world can only truly be attained when we have found Allah, and as a result; are automatically closer to attaining success in the next life.

Yet, all too often, we sell our eternal life so cheaply by chasing this lowly existence. Believing that we will find happiness, peace, and tranquility here.

Strive hard and accept that this life is littered with imperfections and pain. And it is only through letting go of the desires that chain us to this dunya that we can then allow our hearts to be opened to our true hunger of returning back to our promise of peace.
