Q+A: How do you un-love someone?

Written by: Chereen

Dear Chereen,

How do you un-love someone?

Dear Friend,

You can’t unlove someone, you can just make the conscious effort to no longer love them in the future the way you did in the past. They’re a part of your story. With time, they can be a part of the dried ink and not the pen that has yet to be lifted.

I mention moving forward often, and the response I get is “it’s too hard.” But you know, it’s not meant to be easy because then it would not have long term results. So the difficulty is part of the transition. When you don’t conform to it, you see a gradual change of heart and that means you’re moving forward.
