For believer of souls,
Written by: Nadrah
I am a believer of souls, and everything that comes with them. There is just something romantic about our souls.
Though we have not been taught enough about the nature of our souls, but you know you can feel them.
Yours and theirs.
And everyone else’s that have crossed your path. The good, the bad, and the ugly. The little gestures that make you warm and fuzzy on the inside. To the gestures that make you feel like you have had enough.
The souls that either gravitate towards yours, or just simply retreat.
That feeling of familiarity just by their presence. You know you have met someone, somewhere – but you can’t really remember.
And isn’t it strange, that by time, you gravitate to different souls than you were with then?
Yes, you still keep in touch, stay connected, and sometimes share the same physical space. But you know by heart that you are all at a different course of life altogether.
And my dear, that in itself, is a sign of growth. Das ding an sich– the thing in itself.
We bloom through the course of our lives. We meet and greet other souls; we politely smile or decline. We attempted to connect, but we just did not click.
Take some time to think about your loved ones that you have been surrounded with after all these years. Ones you kept close, maintain ties and ones who push the wrong buttons every single time, even after you have tolerated enough.
And then bring your mind back to where you are today. The things you have done differently then and now. How has your lifestyle changed? How has your life improved?
How much closer have you gravitate back to where you really belonged?
In a hadith, narrated by Muslim in his Saheeh, 4773. Al-Nawawi said: “With regard to the words of the Prophet ﷺ : ‘Souls are like conscripted soldiers; those whom they recognize, they get along with, and those whom they do not recognize, they will not get along with’. Fear not to bloom and grow, beautiful souls.
