Surah Baqarah, verse 255:

“Allah – there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.”

Ayatul Kursi – such a powerful ayah of the Quran. This verse reminds us of Allah’s ultimate wisdom, power, and mercy. He remains over us even whilst we sleep, He knows every movement of every creature in every part of the universe, His wisdom and His presence is all encompassing, and His mercy is beyond our comprehension.

Just one of the few derivatives of this ayah offer us comfort as it reminds us that our every matter is in His control, and whenever we are alone without ease; we can turn to Him. Because it is Him alone who rectifies our affairs. Alhamdulillah.

Every rising and setting of the sun is under His command, and every breath that each creature takes lies in His command as well. When we think of just this aspect of “preservation of the heavens and the earth” we appreciate just a small portion of that which Allah is in control of in every moment of existence.

And just as a mother cannot rest whilst her child is distressed, Allah is ever-watchful over His slaves, ensuring their every moment is filled with only goodness.

SubhanAllahi wabihamdihi.
